Placed in Rust in Bergenland, Austria, this property is in conversion to organic practices, run by the computer tech turned winemaker, Gernot "Henry" Schreiner, Erin Rust Vici is his sidekick and longtime resident of Rust, whose family owned vineyards since her childhood. Together they till a recharged healthy soil where Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grow alongside Chardonnay and Welschriesling. The soils are well-drained red clays/sandstone, called Rotesteinböden. There are older vine planting from 1968. Newer plantings are placed in tighter rows (2.4m spacing) for vine/root competition. They make use of a 16th century cellar for storing wines. Modern equipment has been incorporated and will be more as they grow., including a new cellar extension built by Henry himself!
